Free Dream Interpretation for Eleanor

I dreamed that I was able to drift (as opposed to fly) to any height with sheer mental effort. There were several friends who had the same ability but I could get to heights which they could not. At first we needed to feed on blood to get the energy to ‘drift’ but then we accidentally killed a black boy after drinking his blood, and we ran away. There were detectives on our trail who knew everything about us, even secrets. They were never far behind.

To escape we fled down a river at night, which was exhilarating because I drifted at speeds I’d never done before. There was a festival up ahead and when we reached it, we saw the detectives standing on the bank. We hid under the water (which was foggy) but they sensed our presence and ordered us to emerge. Everybody else eventually surrendered but I didn’t need to – I simply drifted out of their reach. My friends were yelling at me and pressuring me to come down and I realized that that was because they were jealous that I’d escaped. Leaving them behind, I fled down the river again and eventually came to an abandoned water treatment plant. It had gone back to nature and I felt utterly safe and happy there. I drifted to the very top and found storey made up of complex shafts and tunnels, which all led onto an open-roofed chamber in the plant’s centre. I wanted to go into it so I could drift up above the building and onto its roof, but all the tunnels had spiderwebs across the openings. The spiders in the webs looked like starfish. I left because they were so still and tense that I was afraid I’d disturb them and they’d start crawling (I’m arachnophobic). I know it’s an awfully long dream but it was extremely vivid and detailed, so there is a lot to say about it. If you can interpret even a part of it that would help me make sense of it. Thanks!

Hi Eleanor, thank you for sharing your dream. In my experience such dreams carry a ton of meaning and I am going to attempt to give you some ideas around what these could be. Not knowing your life the best I can offer is meanings for you to consider.

In the first part of your dream I am going to suggest that there is an area of your life or a quality you have that you are very confident about, this could be around a job, a skill, or even the way you handle  a particular thing. You feel good about this “capacity” or “capability” you have. And kind of proud of it. You might also have a “secret source” for this capability, something you tap into…  And you don’t want to share this with others and worry about it a bit. You also seem to have a “guilt” around this thing… Not sure what it could be.

The second part of your dream where you are leaving your friends behind can be about doing something in your life that is not being approved by others. You also have a sense of being a “hero” around this thing… although not having approval for the direction you have chosen… Think through please.

The place you are at regarding this situation in your life is very comforting to you and you don’t want to disturb it. You feel however that it is in a balance of some sort and that you have to be careful to preserve it. You might be trying things right now in this area of life to get more of what you have as well.
