Simone’s Dream… we put the teeth back in the sockets

My ex-boyfriend and I are on a raft on the lake we grew up at and spend many summers together. It is a hot, idyllic day and the water is very calm. I am lying face down on the raft while my ex-boyfriend is walking through the shallows pulling the raft…i can see the beautiful rippled sand on the bottom and it looks so inviting, I decide to roll off and into the water to take my turn on leading the raft. At this point, for some reason i notice that one of my bottom teeth has fallen out, and one of his front teeth have fallen out. Inexplicably, because we want to save our teeth, we put the teeth back in the sockets – however, i put his tooth (short, slightly dark) into my gum, and he puts my tooth (longer, whiter) into his gum. We know we must do this to preserve the teeth until we get across the lake and to a dentist.

There is no pain or distress really. Just some slight discomfort in my gum. I feel close to my ex and actually, it is all rather pleasant still. I swim to the back of the raft and flutter kick the raft towards shore. Then the dream fast forwards to each of us trying to dislodge the other’s tooth from our own gums and then re-implant them in our own mouths. Then I woke up.

Very nice dream. This is the kind of dream where I would have to get in to a dialog with you so that the interpretations works. But that is not what I do here. I am going to guess an interpretation for you. But first… We don’t know the meaning of dreams like we know “Gravity.” Science does not know the answers, we have some good ideas and somewhat consistent interpretations but nothing like 2+2=4, when it comes to dream interpretation. If I hit the nail on the head for you, you will know.

It seems you had a very nice relationship with your ex. It seems like it has made you happy, calm, and content. You shared well, no one seemed to have an upper hand in the relationship… and it was a “Complete” relationship. Then somethings happened for both of you at the same time… some type of a concern that you both had to deal with in your own lives… these were similar in nature. It might be that he had a job and you had a job and you both had to handle similar concerns in your own lives. At this point you tried to make it work, and you thought you could possibly make this work but now the situation is such that you are dealing with your own thing and he is dealing with his, but you are separate. It is like the separation is now complete.

Simone, without having a conversation with you that is the best I can do. Thank you for sharing your dream. Enjoy your dreams.
