well not too long ago my ex and I broke up. I found out that a couple days or maybe a couple weeks before we broke up (we are broken up now and I found out that he was lying while we were together later after the split) that he lied to me about somethings that were really serious. today I woke up from a dream with him in it texting me saying "im really sorry for everything that happened!" I was firstly shocked from this because me and him haven’t had any contact at all, and secondly because I didn’t think he really cared about being perceived as a liar.

In your case you have a deep wish that your ex felt bad and apologized to you… From what you wrote he did not “really” come and apologize to you… so… this is your deep wish showing up in your dream… He may or may not feel sorry…
